Carlson Dog Training has a wide variety of training programs available to fit your busy schedule!!  You can chose from classes, residency at two high quality kennels while your dog is boarded, or in-home training.  I also sell a variety of quality training supplies to aid you in your success of having an obedient, friendly dog.  After all, your dog is your family and deserves only the best!!

Carlson Dog Training's Mission

Our mission is to help develop the owner/dog relationship into the best one possible.  We do this through a variety of training options where mostly positive reinforcements are used, thus making it fun and exciting for both owner and dog.

Jan Carlson, Trainer, CPDT

Jan Carlson worked in the parks and recreation field for 17 years before becoming a full-time professional dog trainer in 1994. 

Jan attended National K-9 School for Dog Trainers gaining their certification in Utility, Obedience, Protection, Scent Work, Tracking, Service Dog Training, and Kennel Management.  She has been doing 1:1 training either at people's homes, or at boarding kennels and also classes in a variety of settings in the Freeport, Illinois area since then.

In 1995, Jan joined the Association of Pet Dog Trainers at www. APDT.com  The APDT promotes the use of gentle methods of training.  Since joining APDT we utilize the use of treats and praise as rewards, positive reinforcement, and also often utilize tools such as the "Gentle Leader" in training.
